But somehow the motivation mysteriously disappears after a few weeks…..

How to Plan For Your New Year Resolution
1. Keep It Simple
Achieving something needs alot of motivation and hardwork.
If you want to change your life or lifestyle, don’t try to change everything.
Start by doing one thing at a time.
It helps to keep your mind focused for the thing you want to change.
2. Be Specific
When you set your New Year resolutions, do you always state something general like “I want to lose weight” or “I want to be richer”?
With such general statement, you’ll never be able to fufil what you want!
You need to be specific on what you want to achieve.
Lose weight? How many KGs do you want to lose? By what date do you want to achieve your goal?
Be rich? How much do you want to earn? By when do you need to achieve it?
Studies have shown that if you are specific in your goal, the more likely you are able to achieve it.
3. Plan little steps
Once you have your goal, start planning the steps on getting to your intended goal.
You can plan many little steps which are achievable and these steps will help you move forward to your goal.
If you are not able to accomplish such small steps, then you need to reevaluate your planning.
The keyword is to PLAN, PLAN, PLAN.
As the saying goes: Fail To Plan, Plan To Fail.
4. Review your performance for the past Year
Review how are you doing the past year.
Have you achieved what you have set to do?
Achieved your past resolution?
Are you on track to achieve it?
Do a check up and adjust, check, give up or set new goals.
Simple and Easy Way To Plan For Your Resolutions and Goals
Here’s a simple way to plan for your goals.
I use Mind Maps to help plan for my year.
You can use a little book and write down your goals.
A cool app that I found is using Mind Meister to help me with my planning.
It’s easy to use and can be accessed from your phone or computer.
Here’s how to do it:
Create a new Mind Map.
Mind Meister has many templates which you can use to quickly do your mind maps.
Separate into different categories:
- Career (what do you want to achieve in your job)
- Personal Development (skills you want to develop)
- Money (what do want do with your earnings)
- Love and Family (what do you want to achieve in your relationships)
Whichever category you like to develop it, just write it down!
Write down whatever that comes to your mind that you want to achieve.
After that, you can edit and scale down simplify.
Then state your big goal you want to achieve in that category
From there, branch out the steps you are going to take to achieve it. Example: “Do skipping ropes for 15 min every day”
If you lack the knowledge to do it, plan yourself to go read books on the topic.
Once done there you have it!
Use the map and check back often if you have achieved some of the small goals.
The more you achieve, the more satisfied you will be and will be more motivated to achieve it!
Most important of All, Take Action!
If you plan on something, take action!
You achieve nothing if you don’t take action.
Don’t be afraid to fail.
It’s ok to fail to achieve your goal, but if you don’t take the action, you will never achieve your goal
